All the Birds and MeerkatFerrets? o.O

Melody wandered down the grassy path that was Route 231. There was lush greenery on either side of them in the form of trees. Some were pines, others, oaks, rowan, even a few Pecha bushes dotted around. Melody made a note of them for if she came back here later so that she could collect some. The shy young girl glanced up at the sky. The sun was high and it was a bright and cheerful day, one that was perfect for just starting out on your pokemon journey.
Kin'iro had fluttered on ahead, her cottony white wings catching the small breeze that cooled them down, making sure it wasn't too hot for the pokemon that lived here in direct sunlight, as well as making sure it wasn't to cold for the ones that lived in the trees. It was a charming little route really, mostly because of its rustic atmosphere.

Despite all the things to talk about with Lyri, Melody was silent. Perhaps it was because of her shyness, or maybe she was just that engrossed with her environment that she forgot to speak....

Enjoying the lush calm stroll and the lovely sound of twittering Pidgeys, Lyri stayed silent, basking in the warmth of the suns rays between the leaves. She glanced up, noticing that the leaves were stained a light green color, the light behind them making them even brighter. "Hey, Melody. Wanna try a pokemon battle?" Lyri turned to her companion, eyes flashing in excitement

Melody seemed to think about it for a while whilst she glanced at the the way the light shone on the leaves. "I guess... if you want to.... I haven't had a proper battle yet though, so I hope I don't dissappoint," she chuckled shyly.

Kin'iro seemed excited by the possibility of getting to show what she was made of. The golden Swablu did a short spin in the air before chirruping as if trying to up Melody's confidence.

"So, do you wanna try in the tall grass or do you wanna battle Bubbles?" as if on cue, Bubbles chirruped "Piiiplup!(Fight me if you dare, snobs!)" After eyeing the Piplup as if knowing his 'words' harboured bad intentions, Lyri cast her gaze back towards Melody

Melody shrugged, "As I said before I've never battled properly before.. so I don't really mind."
She tried not to be so indecisive, but it was just part of who she was, along with the awkward shyness...

Kin'iro gave Bubbles a curious look from her position in the air, as he tried to sound tough.

"Ah Geez. I'm bad at making decisions too" Lyri laughed. "Bubbles looks all fired up. So, let's battle Kin'iro and him. What d'you say?" the new pokemon trainer asked hopefully.

"Sure!" she grinned, trying to open up a bit more to her new friend. Kin'iro looked pretty happy with the decision too. She landed on Melody's head though, messing up her silver hair with her cottony wings.
Melody chuckled at her pokemon, "Alright then Kin'iro. Lets go!"

"You too Bubbles!" Lyri shot back a few feet, giving some room for battle. Bubbles leaped off of his trainer's shoulder and onto the hard-packed ground in front of her. "Lup!(Bring it!)" he said, flippers on his hips.

Melody also moved backwards to enable slightly more room for the battle to take place. The shiny Swablu hovered in the air just in front of her trainer as Bubbles landed on the hard earth in from of his.
"Bluu!(Likewise!)"

"Start this off with Growl Kin'iro."
Melody's tone was still friendly and just as shy and submissive as before, though no doubt if this battle got fierce it would bring out another side of her personality.

After hearing the command, Kin'iro gently fluttered towards Bubbles slightly, opening her beak and letting out a large shriek that was the bird's version of a Growl attack.

Bubbles chirped indignantly, ears ringing after the sharp growl. With a shake of his head, he awaited his commands from his trainer. "Alright Bubbles! Start off with Aqua Ring!"

Bubbles complied, letting out another chirrup as a ring of water began to form, surrounding the small pokemon.

As the Piplup set up its Aqua Ring, Melody shouted her next command, "Hyper Voice!"

Kin'iro complied, fluttering around in a short circle before using Hyper Voice from her vantage point slightly off of the ground.

The Piplup covered his 'ears' with his flippers, although it hardly did anything to keep the sharp squealing noise from reaching his sensitive eardrums. "Alright Bubbles, quick, use pound!" After his HP had been restored slightly with his Aqua Ring, the penguin pokemon flung himself at Kin'iro

"Peck Kin'iro!"
The Swablu proceeded to meet the Piplup's pound head on with her own move. The beginning of the battle was always the hardest but more crucial part. The beginning was where you sought out and found your opponent's grey areas and weak spots, but was also where you had to keep your defense up.

Falling back with a squeak, Bubbles looked up, eyes filled with fire. "Pound, again Bubbles! Avoid the pecks!" Lyri ordered, sensing that this battle wasn't going in her favor. "Once more!" The piplup stood up, shaking his head. He twirled to the left and then to the right, doing all sorts of odd manuevers to try and confuse the Swablu. Finally, he flung himself at Kin'ir once more.

Kin'iro kept using Peck to counted the Pound moves. Melody was deliberately countering each of Bubbles' moves with one of similar strength.
"Get behind him!"

The golden Swablu nodded and fluttered over the Piplup, spinning to aim another Peck attack from behind.

"Behind you Bubbles!" Lyri shouted, noticing the Swablu's ambush attack.
Bubbles leaped into the air, above the Swablu's head. "Now, turn around and use pound, one more time!" The Piplup whipped around, hurling himself, head first, towards the golden swablu.

"Hyper Voice!"
Melody shouted the command, though there was an air of uncertainty in her tone.

Kin'iro flipped over during flight and used Hyper Voice upwards towards the incoming Penguin Pokemon.

As Aqua Ring restored his health, the Piplup winced, for the hyper voice hit at the same moment. However, he endured this attack, albeit just barely, and continued on his course towards the shiny pokemon. "Good Job" Lyri whispered, cheering him on both in her head and out loud.

Kin'iro was unable to dodge the incoming Pound attack, but managed to get another Hyper Voice in before Bubbles could land the blow on her golden feathers.

As the dust from the impact started to clear, Melody watched with bated breath to see the extend of the damage done by the Piplup.

Bubbles struggled to stand up, his health rapidly declining. "Bubbles! Don't push yourself! A loss is a loss!" Lyri called, running up to the Piplup. "Sheesh." she laughed as the pokemon wobbled. "Lu..Lup!(I..I'm not done yet!)" He chirped weakly

Her Swablu partner weakly fluttered back over to Melody, landing at her feet and starting to preen her feathers with her beak. Kin'iro was now covered with dust from the area and worked at cleaning the most of it off of her feathers.

Melody bent down and stroked her partner, "You did well for your first proper battle Kin'iro." she grinned. The Swablu seemed to chirrup happily in reply.
Melody picked up the shiny pokemon and cradled her in her arms whilst she continued to clean her golden feathers.

Picking up the Piplup and nuzzling him, Lyri murmured soothing words, eventually lulling the pokemon into a deep slumber. He snored lightly, whimpering now and again, most likely from the damage his ears had received. "Great fight Melody! But just so you know, I'm going to be the best battler there ever was! So don't get used to winning!" Lyri challenged her newfound friend with a grin.

Melody grinned, "Thanks! I need to learn how to make my pokemon look beautiful and unique in everything they do, because I plan on entering contests."

Kin'iro chirruped in agreement. The two had obviously had conversations, at least one sided ones, about this before.

With a delighted glint in her eyes, Lyri clapped "Contests! Sounds like fun! With the form of battle you use, you should be extremely graceful and beautiful on stage" Lyri mused, remembering the rather lovely ways the swablu had moved about

Melody smiled, "Thankyou..."

Kin'iro seemed to be delighted with the praise, as she seemed to aspire to be a great contest pokemon. She didn't say anything to Bubbles though, being smart enough to know that it would only trigger an argument.
